Agnes R. Lawrence

Pawtucket - Agnes R. (Rock) Lawrence, RN, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013. She was the beloved wife of John H. Lawrence for 65 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Catherine (Carr) Rock. Agnes served in the U.S. Navy Nursing Cadet Corps during World War II. She was a member of the graduating Class of 1947 at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Agnes worked as a maternity ward nurse at Memorial Hospital of RI until retiring in 1991. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides her loving husband, John, she leaves six children, William J. Lawrence of Houston, TX, Karline Wild of Cumberland, Catherine M. Smith of Lincoln, Maureen A. Lawrence of Pawtucket, Eileen F. Desrosiers of Feeding Hills, MA and Donna J. DeRoy of Providence; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Agnes was the grandmother of the late Amiee Lynne Desrosiers. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Parish (St. Joseph Church), 193 Walcott St., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. VISITATION will be Tuesday 4 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 will be appreciated.
